A
Children's Game
With A Message
|
|
"Bearzy
Wearzy" is a computer game for the whole
family. It stars Bearzy Wearzy, a cute, cuddly
bear with the softest fur in the forest. Bearzy
is the last of his species, and his part of the
old-growth forest, "De Forest", is
protected by the government. This is an obstacle for
Mr. Weasel, the local realtor, who wants to raze
the forest and erect luxury condos. Mr. Weasel
will stop at nothing to destroy Bearzy so that
the forest can be taken off protected status.
This is not as easy as Mr. Weasel would like, for
Bearzy's greatest survival skill is his ability
to hide, and his forest pals are ready and
willing to set traps and send messages to thwart
Mr. Weasel's mission. The battle between the
forest denizens and the realtor's forces provides
fun, yet thought-provoking entertainment.

Mr. Weasel is more talk
than action, so he often sends one of his
henchmen to do the dirty work. Gun-ho Mr. Hunter
is all too happy to comply; so is Mr. Hunter Jr.,
despite his ineptitude with a gun. Prominent
businessman, Bigsy Pigsy is also in on the
conspiracy, and tries to snare Bearzy by setting
traps like a booby trapped luxury condo offered
as a gift for the bear. A combination of puzzles
and arcades must be solved to bring Bearzy to
safety. Sometimes,
Mr. Weasel tricks an unwitting conspirator to to
the dirty deed. In one episode, he tells a
gourmet chef that Bearzy's meat is a delicacy; in
another, he tells a wealthy woman about how
Bearzy's fur would make a fantastic coat.
Even a villian
like Mr. Weasel needs a vacation sometimes, but
that doesn't mean Bearzy's day is a safe one.
Natural disasters such as fire and flood also
threaten Bearzy's habitat. Players must help
Bearzy choose the proper strategy for getting the
inhabitants to safety.

Goodness For Friends
|
|
Bearzy's best
friend, Palsy Wowlsy, is full of questions, but
short on answers, and sometimes his moment-by-moment
existence causes him to flap headlong into
trouble. But occasionally, Palsy's efforts pay
off. Hey, who's perfect, anyway? Other friends of Bearzy
are: Legal Beagle, the lawyer hired to protect
Bearzy; Bugsy Wugsy, an invisible mite who passes
along overheard information, Mrs. Pigsy, an
animal lover who is unaware of her husband's back
room shenanigans, and Grouchy Pouchy, a grumpy
hamster who totes a variety of useful stuff in
his cheeks.

The puzzles
and arcades are built with an eye toward humor
and using basic logic so that children never get
hung up at a certain spot. These pastimes include:
finding a path through the fiery woods, climbing
through a maze of trees to escape predators,
building a better bear trap to ensnare Mr.
Weasel, finding the right ingredient to give the
gourmet a sneezing fit, and firing pine cones
with a sling shot at attacking beavers.

|
|
The
inhabitants of Bearzy's forest come alive with
beautiful, intricate 3D models that astound and
amuse. Even if you don't give a damn about those
spotted owls, you'll enjoy watching these
characters' antics.

This is a game of life
and death, but nobody wants to see little
critters die. For that reason, a huge, comical
"hand of God" reaches down and saves
the day, if players can't. After three acts of
God, the game ends with a suggestion to players
to try to think more carefully about their
decisions.
